Partitioning VMWare ESX Server 3.5 during installation

There are many ways to partition ESX during installing. ESX has its own default configuration if you are not familiar with partitioning or you can edit the configuration yourself.
Here is a recommended partitioning scheme for ESX newbies.
NEW PARTITIONING SCHEME
| Mount Point | Primary | Size(MB | Notes |
| /(root) | Yes | 10240 | Holds the Service Console and ESX Server kernel |
| /boot | Yes | 250 | Holds the boot kernel image |
| swap | Yes | 1600 | This is for the Service Console only and not for the ESX Server software |
| /var/log | No | 4096 | Holds the log files |
| vmkcore | No | 102 | Holds the core dump file for the VMkernel |
| VMFS | No | Any Remaining Disk | Holds the configuration and disk files for the virtual machines |
Remember this is only a recommendation and the partitioning scheme will be different depending on specific needs.
if i want to attach another scsi drive on vmware server, and want to make whole disk VMFS, can it be possible. on which folder i should mount the new partition??
You can add another drive to your RAID configuration but you will need to use vmkfstools to configure the partition.
1. I have trying to setup domain controller, and other Windows 2003 server machines, but they have been creating lot of problems. Such as the machine joins the domain, but then the domain users are unable to logon the member server.
2. Have been trying to setup the SPS 2006 on the Virtual machine, but it has been a total failure. Where as I have setup the SPS on the standalone machine successfully.
Please help!
The mount point is /var/log, not /log/var !!

RTFM or take a course ! And btw do you have vmware tools install in your guest OS
