If you would like to retain user settings in Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server then you cannot use Mandatory profiles. The only way to retain settings and use Mandatory Profiles is if you have Appsense as Appsense allows you to export and import hives during logon and logoff.
Read the following article from Citrix if you would like more information on User Profiles in Citrix

If you’re getting the following error message ‘Error 26013. Function InitializeTree2 returned failure in CTX_MF_IMA_InitializeTree2 the database username or password may be wrong’ while installing Citrix Presentation Server try the following. This is assuming you have tried http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX107977 from Citrix Support.
- Create a SQL Database called Citrix.
- Please make sure that your SQL Server is configured for SQL Authentication AND NT-Authentication.
- Create a SQL Login account and give the user DB Owner rights to the Citrix Database. If you’re having issues when seeting the DSN using this account use a simple password for example ‘citrix’.
- Now start the installation of Citrix Presentation Server
- Type in the Citrix Farm and choose SQL Server for your datastore
- It will then ask you to create a DSN, type in the description and select the SQL Server using the drop down list.
- Now for the important bit – At the question how the SQL Server verify the authenticity of the Login ID: Select “With SQL Server Authentication using a login ID and Password entered by the User.” Use the login details that you created earlierin step 3.
- Now select the Citrix database as the default database.
- Click Next until you get to test connections. Make sure the connection is successful and then click finish.
You should now be able to install Citrix Presentation Server without getting the error 26013.
